Grand Master Sang Bok Chung
RESPECTED PARENT OF THE YEAR He began the Kong Soo Do in 1955. Grandmaster Sang Bok Chung is 9th degree Black,
Belt in Chang Moo Kwan. He came to the United States in 1972. He opened Chung’s Martial Arts College in Birmingham, AL, in the early 1970s. He was an active referee and demonstrator known for his fascinating jump-turning back. kick breaking multiple boards at one time. Along with Kim Ju-hun, Seo Young-seon, Shin Seung-Eui, Park Jang-Yuel, and Choi Ki-chun, He organized the Southern States Taekwondo Association and worked together promoting the study of Taekwondo. He also served as a vice-president for the U.S. Taekwondo Grandmasters Society for several years. Because of the sudden death of his wife in 2009, he raised very well 4 his young children by himself. One of his sons became a well-known professional golfer in Southwest Area in United States. He established the Korean Association in Birmingham, AL in 1977 in the U.S.A. Also, he started Chung’s United States Taekwondo Championship in 1977. |
